A little about me:
At the start of my career, I spent my first five years in the substance abuse field. In an inpatient heroin detox unit and outpatient substance abuse clinic I undertook patients with various levels of care which later led to a comprehensive vocation with a mental health agency seeing both mentally ill patients as well as those struggling with substance abuse. There I saw an array of patients with different diagnoses—many of which were MICA cases with co-occurring disorders of both mental illness and substance abuse issues. Personally trained in CBT by one of the psychiatrists, it has now become an essential and indispensable therapy in my practice.
Fast forward to the present where things have profoundly changed since I first began practicing in this field. Now I work with patients who have anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, trauma, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders (or disordered eating?), ADHD, etc. To this day, I continue to practice with CBT as well as other evidence-based therapies, tailoring each patient’s therapy to that individual’s needs. For therapy sessions, I specialize in working with couples and families as well as individuals with ages ranging from adolescence to the elderly. I have treated people who have experienced the profound loss of a loved one—person or pet and are struggling to come to terms with their new existence and grief in the aftermath. I am passionate about helping people figure out how to detangle their lives, how to help them make sense of the everyday confusion, and how to enable them to look forward to a less stressful and more meaningful and healthful existence for their future.
