Biography

Dr. Carolina Montalvo is a psychologist who specializes in administering ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP).  Ketamine is a medication that is commonly used as an anesthetic in surgical procedures. In recent years. leading researchers and clinicians have been studying and utilizing Ketamine in lower doses to treat mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dr. Montalvo helps her clients prepare to work with ketamine via prep sessions i.e., expectation setting & harm reduction), provides safety and support while under the effects of Ketamine, and integrates the insights gained through this process to create a richer and more meaningful daily existence. She provides ongoing psychotherapy as needed, rooted in an eclectic framework focused on mindfulness, compassion, and insight as vehicles for change.
Dr. Montalvo received her PsyD in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 2019. She has since completed trainings for psychedelic integration and harm reduction under Fluence, MDMA-assisted therapy at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy at Polaris. She has been administering KAP sessions for the past two years and has found ketamine to be extremely helpful for her clients, most notably in cases in which other therapeutic interventions have failed. She has been lauded for her sense of empathy and compassion, commitment to her client’s success in treatment, and maintaining a flexible approach in applying therapeutic techniques to meet the diverse needs of each individual.
